Well, the people over at Chinquapin Records released brand new Bedroom Sessions today for Habitat. Habitat is a the product of fusing Jack Donovan from New Grass Country Club x Andrew Landry & Evan Cvitanovic from High In One Eye (tumblr)
it = awesome.
It’s my favorite people making some of my favorite sounds into music songs. You’d probably really like them if you like Women (dwnld Public Strain & listen to “Eyesore” ) or music in general. Lucky for you (& me), these bedroom sessions come with downloads! Get those & check out the description here!

Chris Rehm of Caddywhompus had a TON of gear stolen from outside their practice space on April 2nd…like over $1000 worth of pedals and cables :( ! But, don’t fret! We can do something about this! I present you with Stop the Hate 2.0 a house show/party to raise money & get our Caddy back on their feet!!

Chris Rehm is mainly recognized as the frontman/guitarist for his experimental noise pop band based out of NOLA/Houston called Caddywhompus, but he’s got a solo career that more than deserves recognition.
His unique breed of experimental ambient folk glorifies all that is lo-fi by producing sounds in unlikely ways & in bizarre locations. The magic is how he’s able to blend those sounds together to compose songs that leave such a strong impression.
Worries, Etc. was released off of the label Chinquapin Records that he has created to harbor his friends as well as his own musical endeavors.
Chris’s statement about the album provides further explanation:
“I started recording this album before I knew I was recording it: in the summer of 2008. I recorded a guitar loop (the backbone of the first three tracks) and since then, I’ve been adding to and augmenting the recording. Much of the album is inspired by finite relationships, family and friends, the drive between Houston and New Orleans, timelines, and falling behind. This is my seventh solo release (save a live album and a mixtape of collected songs from my childhood) since 2007.”
Worries, Etc.is an album that expands the unique sound of his last release Salivary Stones which received reviews claiming that, “It is the new sound. The new white noise. The new experiment. The new texture.” (via Forest Gospel).
(click album cover for Bandcamp to dwnld)
In my opinion Worries, Etc. is the definitely the most beautiful work he’s produced thus far with it’s intoxicating soundscapes & moments of tender honesty paired with his signature textured ambient waves of sound that engulf every thought in my head as I listen through the album.
This is more than me recommending a friend’s album to download. This is me recommending an album I’ve already fallen in love with that I feel the need to share with as many people as possible.
Basically, I look forward to listening to this album on repeat. It’s worth it for you do the same.
